Please follow our submissions policy as outlined below. We have designed a careful process that allows us to evaluate your work while also providing you with more feedback than the typical form rejection letter. A key part of our mission is the belief that there are some excellent manuscripts with solid premises requiring editorial collaboration to get them ready for wider reading, and we will undertake that work when we feel it is warranted. Thank you and good luck.
How to Submit
:
We only accept email inquiries. Your initial submission should contain a
one-sheet summary broken into three parts: part one: the title, author,
genre, and length of the work; part two: the 50-word pitch (which
should be thought of as the jacket copy designed to pique interest), and
part three: the author biography/blurb detailing any professional
writing or other experience that would appear in public relations promoting
the author. The above should be pasted or written into your email and
not attached as a separate document. The total word count of all three
sections should be no more than 200 words. No partial works should be
submitted.
Then, below the above in the same email, paste only the first ten pages of your work, double-spaced. This is your chance to grab our interest, show that you are a careful writer/reader (we expect no typos in ten pages,
as should we take you on, we expect no typos in the entire work on our
part). Please demonstrate with your submission that you are
a very careful and considerate writer. Again, only send the first ten
pages even if that means breaking off in mid-sentence, which could be a
good way to get us to want to see page eleven.
Please
allow 4-6 weeks for our initial evaluation of your submission. If we
like what we read, we will then ask to see the full work as a Word
attachment. We will only publish works we feel have a reasonable chance
of becoming acclaimed and enduring works. Quality and standards matter.
Period. There are already plenty of great classics to read in one
lifetime. Our goal is to play a lead role in proving there are more good
writers and books deserving
to be published than the current challenged publishing models can
handle.
Categories of Interest:
We are primarily interested in literary fiction with commercial potential and also short-story collections. We are not interested in romance and vampires -- especially when the two are combined. We also are not interested in adding to the piles of celebrity and political biographies. We will consider young adult novels, but no illustrated books. We are not qualified at this point to accept poetry collections but possibly with time will add a poetry expert to our team.
Submit: Please email your submission as outlined above to: info@publerati.com
Should
we say no, please accept our opinion as only one of many from just one
group of writers/editors/readers, so do not take it personally.
Rejection hurts, we know. We will miss out on some good books but will
do what we can to limit our mistakes. There are many classics that not
everyone likes, that's just the way it is. Should we want to take you
on, we will send you our contract, which is a combination literary
agent/e-publishing agreement. Thanks and good luck.
